Family purpose
We are building a coordinated family of specialist brands so our family can learn, contribute, own responsibility, and prosper together through work we can stand behind.
A family studio built around useful creative work and accountable ownership.

I’m Thomas Smallwood. My professional background spans more than 18 years building digital systems for higher education, cybersecurity, healthcare, nonprofit, SaaS, public-sector, and agency organizations. That experience taught me to connect creative decisions to real audiences, workflows, accessibility, ownership, risk, and long-term use.
Hays Visual Works grows from the same discipline: begin with the commercial purpose, plan the production, protect people and rights, handle media responsibly, and deliver assets prepared for where they must work.
We are building a coordinated family of specialist brands so our family can learn, contribute, own responsibility, and prosper together through work we can stand behind.
Plain-language planning, a visible brief, named owners and approvers, careful pre-production, respectful sets, traceable reviews, and honest delivery boundaries.
People should understand how their likeness will be used and be treated with dignity. Accommodations, captions, transcripts, readable graphics, and alternatives to motion belong in planning.
Crew, stylists, talent, animators, editors, locations, and vendors are added when scope requires them, with roles, rights, safety, cost, and accountability made visible.
Visual Works coordinates with Hays Digital Works for websites and applications and Hays Custom Works for apparel, gifts, signage, and physical brand expression.
Thomas’s public technology portfolio provides verified professional context. Visual production examples will be published only with permission, credits, intended-use context, and honest outcomes.
